Sorry for the recent silence, I’ve been so ill with this cold that I’ve not felt up to blogging. I’m pretty sure I’ve gained some weight back as I probably ate the equivalent to 15 cows… but hey, these things happen!
That’s the thing with dieting, you focus so much on losing the weight that if you do find you gain a pound or two, you don’t know how to react to it. Your initial reaction would be disappointment. What you need to know is that those things will happen from time to time and that it’s OK. Just because you gained a couple of pounds back doesn’t mean all your hard work has been undone.
When it comes to dieting, it’s a good thing to change up your diet every now and again. The way, you know what works best for you and your body. For example, when I first started dieting I was eating at a calorie deficit with exercise. I then decided to give Weight Watchers a go, shortly after that I went back to calorie counting then I decided to try Slimming world, then I finally went back to calorie counting at a deficit. From trying out different diets I found that eating fewer calories and exercising works for me. I’d highly encourage new dieters to do the same. That way you can find a plan that you are happy and comfortable with and you will be more likely to stick to it.
You also need to give yourself time. As I said in my previous post, losing weight doesn’t happen over night. It takes time. To be honest, the longer it takes to come off usually means it will take longer to be gained back. I found that when I was losing weight fast, I’d binge a lot and it would really make me feel crap. Now I’m taking it slow, especially after this cold.
I’m going to try and mix my diet up a bit by trying high-protein, high-fat and low carb. It was weigh day yesterday (I couldn’t bring myself to get weighed)but I didn’t attend so I’ll update you all next week and let you know how its going :).
